SkyTeq was founded by me in
September 5, 2006 on the premise of building an aerial intelligence
company around a light airborne multipurpose system ( LAMPS )
defined as the Aerial Geographic Inventory System ( AGIS) . The idea
for AGIS came to me after Hurricane Katrina while working as a
volunteer first at the Triage Center at Ellington Air Force base and
later while supporting aerial mapping of the damaged areas in East
Texas. Very little of the data being gathered by FEMA was being
disseminated to the utility companies and when it was it was not in
a format that could be easily used. The utility companies had no way
to compare what the lines looked liked after the storm vs. what it
was like before the storm. Without an accurate as built inventory of
everything in the grid there is no way to do a quick before and
after comparison of the grid. Using my 30 years of experience as a
system engineer designing and building advance sensor systems in
shipboard, airborne, and ground based platforms I came up with the
idea of doing a rapid aerial inventory of the network with computer
identification of the poles using the core AGIS. The design of AGIS
is around an open (airframe independent platform) architecture, this
open architecture allows us to integrate other mediums such as;
thermal , hyper-spectral, LiDAR, gas , magnetic, SAR, and others .
SkyTeq’s core team of employees are all pilots, engineers, and
former military. This team has come together as a cohesive unit of
pilots/engineers that all have equal inputs into the direction and
further development of AGIS not only in the performance of the
system but also the solutions it can provide. Many parts of AGIS’s
are declassified military systems but it is not a weapons system and
it is designed for peaceful purposes only.
SkyTeq is a Swords into Plow Shears company.
